On the afternoon of June 26th, the seminar organized by the Beijing Engineering Survey and Design Industry Association - the analysis of the space long-span cable structure and the interpretation of the key provisions of the new steel regulations were held in the Muqam Hall on the 3rd floor of the Xinjiang Building in Beijing.

Our school was led by Dean Wang Wenxun and participated in this seminar together with relevant professionals such as brother design institutes, engineering construction units and construction drawing review institutions.


The seminar focused on large-span and ultra-high-duty, ultra-heavy complex steel structures. Everyone agrees that with the development of the economy and the progress of society, mankind needs to build a taller building space to meet the requirements of mass gatherings, holding large-scale cultural and educational performances, holding large-scale fairs, etc., which brings about the diversity of architectural functions. The complexity of engineering and architectural modeling; on the other hand, in recent years, new materials, new structures, and new technologies have emerged in an endless stream, greatly promoting the advancement of space structures in large-span buildings. Under this background, the development of steel structure should adhere to the green building and prefabricated building concepts advocated by the state, give full play to the characteristics of the steel structure itself, such as high strength, light weight, good overall performance, strong deformation ability, and engineering practice. The advantages of low cost, strong shock resistance, easy installation, high degree of assembly, and low pollution are presented. The official release and implementation of the national steel structure design standard GB50017-2017 is an opportunity to vigorously promote the steel structure in the long span. And applications in ultra-high, super-heavy complex buildings.


At the invitation of the organizer, Professor Zhang Qilin, a professor of Tongji University and a space structure expert, first gave a special report at the meeting. Professor Zhang's report is divided into two parts: (1) analysis of spatial long-span cable structure research examples; (2) BIM-based steel structure design and construction system development and application. In the report, Prof. Zhang combined his theoretical research and engineering practice in the long-span cable structure in recent years, from the basic theoretical knowledge of the cable structure to the selection of the specific construction plan in the actual project, which gave a profound explanation and attracted the participants. Great interest and strong resonance. In the second part of the report, Prof. Zhang focused on demonstrating the organization structure of the steel structure design and construction system based on BIM based on 3D3S software, and discussed the application mode of Internet + steel structure.

After Professor Zhang’s report, Tong Le University’s professor and member of the Steel Structure Design Standards Group, Tong Lewei, conducted a professional interpretation of the key provisions of the new steel regulations. Based on the comparison between the old and new steel rules, Professor Tong gave a detailed explanation of the specific contents of some chapters in the new specification, combined with his own research experience, so that the participants had some expectations for the release and implementation of the new norms.


By participating in this seminar, everyone felt that they have benefited a lot and strengthened their belief in strengthening and strengthening the steel structure.
